Unfortunately, I was never afforded the opportunity to meet him, but I feel as if I know him simply from what my mother has said about him, even as recent as a month ago. A man of great patience, kindness, and dedication, not just to his field but to his patients. I owe him my life, for I am one of his 14,000 miracles! Kenneth Halfen (Baltimore, MD ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 17, 2004 Like so many others, I was fortunate enough to be a patient of Dr. Russell's. He delivered my three beautiful daughters, who are all grown up now. I had moved to Florida for a short period of time, but upon returning to Maryland, I immediately contacted his office to return to his care. He was a great doctor...caring and professional. He will be missed. Kathryn Becker (Parkville, MD ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 16, 2004 Dr. Russell, what a doctor, what a person! He indeed was missed by all when he retired. My Mom trusted him to the fullest as her GYN/OB. He took such good care of my Mom and when she was diagnosed with breast cancer got her the best doctors ever. You could call him and he'd make the calls for you to get the best drs. Thank you! When my Mom passed in July 1999, he came to her viewing, in a wheel chair but he came. All the women whom had the privilege to have him as their GYN/OB, flocked around him so happy to see him. Asking how he was doing. God Bless his family. Take pride in having such a wonderful person in your life. Tracy Chlebda-Morrison (Essex, MD ) TLCM240@aol.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 14, 2004 Dr. Russell was my OB/GYN for over 30 years and delivered my two children. It was indeed a sad day for all his patients when he retired as he was such a wonderful doctor and a true legend in his time. Thank you Doc! and a special thank you to his family for all the time he spent away from you taking such good care of his girls. We all share in your loss. Joann Rigby (Baltimore, MD ) j.rigby@verizon.net ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 14, 2004 Thank you Dr. Russell for 3 healthy & beautiful children who now have families of their own. You were a wonderful OB/GYN Dr. Peace to your family Judy Lemaster (Berlin, MD ) JLemast4@aol.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 13, 2004 Dr. Russell was the OB that delivered me. I also had the privilege of him delivering all three of my children. I remember him telling me during one of my visits that he would never retire he loved what he did too much. I greatly missed him when he did retire. I will always remember him as wonderful man and terrific OB/GYN. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Carole Riddle (Hampstead, MD ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 12, 2004 Dr. Russell was my children's grandfather. Doc always had a an amusing anecdote, while entertaining at family events. Whenever a problem would arise he would help out in any small way that he could. In his younger years he loved the outdoors and traveling. A very caring man. We will all remember the good things about him. My daughter was there when he passed away. My son and I were traveling on the Metro trying to attempt to head to Baltimore to see him right before he died. We received a cell phone call, and my son got the privledge to speak to Doc right before his passing. The Metro car was silent in reverence to a boy's last words to his grandfather. Grown men were in tears, as was I, as we listened to my son say his goodbyes. "We'll see you on the other side." Lynn Kindness (Frederick, MD ) KindnessL@aol.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ August 12, 2004 It has been a privilege to have known Dr Edgie as a colleague at GBMC over 20 years. His kindness, wit, and medical expertise were greatly appreciated. Please extend my condolences to all of the family.
